I'm sorry, I don't have a solution for you. But once you resolve the issue, please share it to help others in the future.
I've not been very happy with W10, but haven't had a problem to the magnitude you've experienced. Not being able to log in and go back to where things were before the most recent update is a huge problem!
I hope you find a solution quickly.

Mulling this over, try powering down the PC & then unplugging the keyboard & mouse. Restart the PC. When it gets to the startup screen, plug the mouse, then keyboard, back in. It might recognize them. Just a thought, but worth a try.
